Thai Queen in Russia

Queen Sirikit of Thailand arrived in Russia on Monday for a nine-day visit to Russia to commemorate the 110th anniversary of Thai-Russian relations, having been invited by President Putin.

The Queen, now aged 74, arrives as the official representative of her husband, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who at 79 years old has not travelled abroad in many years.

After four days in Moscow, Queen Sikirit will venture up to Saint Petersburg for a tour of historic sites, including Peterhof Palace. She will also receive an honorary doctorate in Eastern languages and cultures July 9 from the University of Saint Petersburg.
