Darwin rubbished in St. Petersburg

A Russian teenager at the Cervantes Gymnasium School in St. Petersburg has baffled authorities by suing the St. Petersburg city education council for teaching her the theory of evolution.

The 15 year old Maria Shreiber claims her religious beliefs were offended in a recent biology lesson when Darwin's ideas were taught as fact and religious theories portrayed in a negative light.

The case mimics several similar occurences in the US, where bible bashing pre-pubescents have lashed out against scientifically proven theories, claiming to know better.

All of which begs the question whether, if science is to eschewed in favour of religion, Maria Shreiber will call a doctor next time she is ill, or a priest?
