St. Petersburg isn't considered Russia's cultural capital for nothing. It is here where artists and musicians head in order to seek their fortune and many of the city's best drinking venues are also stages for concerts, art exhibitions and poetry readings. Of course St. Petersburg is famous for its royal pedigree and much of the grandeur of Imperial Russia can be glimpsed through classic performaces of the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet, or at the legendary 'Stars of the White Nights Festival'.
