The Demidov family were one of the richest families in Russia during the 18th and 19th Century after Nikita Demidov made his fortune as a weapon's constructor for Peter the Great. No surprise then that this traditional Ruski restaurant, nestled by the banks of the Fontaka canal, is an upmarket affair befitting such a noble cognomen (and making it the perfect place to dine with contemporary Russia's movers and shakers!). Treat yourself to some baked beluga fish, with sour cream sauce, before agonising over an exhaustive drinks menu - we recommend you try a shot of Nemiroff, a honey and pepper flavoured vodka. |
