State Hermitage Museum website

No trip to St. Petersburg would be complete without a trip to the amazing State Hermitage Museum - arguably the most famous museum in the entire world. With three million works of art stretching back to the stone age and spanning every major world culture to the present day, it's fair to say there's enough to keep you busy for an hour or two. Strolling around the corridors and chambers of the Winter Palace you can admire everything from classical sculptures of Roman Emperors to over twenty works by Rembrandt, and much much much more! The tickets aren't cheap for this one, so that fake student ID you bought in Bangkok will definitely come in handy.

The Hermitage Museum is more impressive than what i imagined after seeing the website. I want to go back and spend a day or two just enjoying what it has to offer. I have not seen a finer museum even in Europe. You will be impressed but please take your time to enjoy what you see.

Went here with a school group from Scotland. Pupils were admitted FREE of charge. Some of them weren't sure they were interested in art but all of them enjoyed it in the end.

You could spend over 3 WEEKS here and still not see everything! In fact, some artefacts have even gone missing and the curators didn't even spot the fact after months - only realised when they did an inventory check. This place is truly spectacular!

Every bit as impressive as I had hoped. There's some brilliant artefacts here, such as the Tsar's carriage, and their collection of paintings was much bigger than i had expected. I spent over three hrs here and didn't see everything
